Recently my FOMO has gone down massively. These days I don’t mind staying home on a Friday night and just chill, so I thought I’d write what makes the perfect night in by myself.
I currently prefer this routine more than standing at a bar, waiting for shots to be poured and dancing the night away, though there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that and I enjoy it too, from time to time. Balance is definitely key.
What’s the fun in being super healthy on a cozy night in? Exactly: none. So I stop by my local supermarket and get what my heart desires. Usually it’s pasta based and saves you the overpriced Pizza. If I don’t have any homemade treats at home, you bet you’ll find some chocolate ice cream in the basket, because, well… A Ben & Jerry’s Chocolate Fudge Brownie never hurt nobody!
I don’t go all out on a night in, there’s just too much if you exfoliate, do a face mask, mani/pedis and everything else. So I simply shower, use a face and body moisturizer and I’m done, I feel fresh and soft, just like a baby.
I make sure I have a freshly washed set of linens on the bed and put new PJs out. There’s nothing better than the scent of fresh washed everything. And who would want to spend a chill night in restricting pants?
There’s no point in just loading yourself up when you’re at home alone. However I do enjoy a nice glass of Moscato at home (makes me feel oh so classy, though it’s really not, ha!). But I can totally go without it as well.
Especially on nights like these, I like to give myself some time to put down some of my thoughts and ideas. I love looking back at some old notes and seeing what I’ve done or seeing some of my weird past midnight scribbles. I’m trying to incorporate it into my daily life, but it’s just too easy to miss out on.
Netflix & Trash TV
Giving “Netflix & Chill” it’s true meaning, I love cuddling up in my new armchair with my favorite blankie and watching a chick-flick on Netflix. It’s also not unlikely, that I’ll watch some Trash-TV like Geordie Shore, because it definitely makes me feel better about myself and gives me the feeling that I have my shit together.
No space for negativity
When looking at social media, it’s easy to feel a bit down. There’s no space for negativity on a night where I treat myself, which means the phone gets its rest and recharge. The phone won’t walk off and those notifications can also be checked the next day (and yes, they wont have disappeared).
I feel very rejuvenated after a night like this. The next day I wake up with new energy and ready to take on everything life throws at me. Do you have a ritual on nights in? I would love to hear them!
